In November of 2019 a cow elk became trapped in one of our Grange members fencing. The animal was injured and could not be saved. After contacting the Department of Fish and Game to secure their permission. It was decided to harvest the animal and donate the meat to needy members of our community. Ekness Meat agreed to donate cutting and wrapping of the Elk – a $146.55 value.

Five families that received boxes of meat from this project. All were very thankful to have help feeding their families over the winter.

In the Spring of 2020 several ladies in our Grange made face-masks for the COVID-19 effort.

I was in awe. I was even more in awe when I learned that he had been a student of Also Leopold, a celebrated conservationist I had come to learn about in my Environmental History classes. It was difficult to choose what events to include in the Quarterly Newsletter. So if you want to know more. Read on!
